I thought i was

by Yakari Gabriel   Mar 8, 2011

I thought I had managed
to pull myself out of the hole
you made for me,

I thought I had grown wings
on this tired back
to fly away from you
and all the hatred you bring

I thought I had made myself stronger
holding on to those dreams
I so badly want to see come true

I thought I had overcome
your hostility
that your actions
were nothing but feathers on my skin,
didn't have effect on me

I thought I had turn all that worried me into hopes
that serenity finally found me
and I would no longer be
a slave to you

I thought I had gotten used to it
to be mistreated, misunderstood

yet today I find;

that I'm weaker than I thought
you build me up you tear me down
-you conquer me-

Oh mother,

I thought I was free.

This is a powerful realization you have come here that I think is a big plummeting points of all of our lives...thank you dearly for your kind and honest thoughts on my poetry, and for the time you share.......I liked the layout of this piece, how you have something planned, this piece of a relationship perhaps, but we always fall back into it and can't find ourselves moving onto new destinations.

An emotional write, really moved me in many ways.
Thank you for writing and God bless as always!

Oh excellent Yaki. I think a lot of us have been to this point in our lives. Sometimes we have someone or a situation we are trying to get over and move on from but somehow we always fall back after we've got so much better and accepted the way things were. It's kind of like taking a two steps forward and three steps back. You just don't feel like you're going anywhere. Awesome write, I loved what you had to say.
