Do Not Give Too Much Of Your Love To Me

by Joseph Boadi   Jun 25, 2011

I do not wish to taint thy festive mood with such dark thought
Because for thy solemn vow i have swore to wage war and besiege great forts
But i beg of you do not give too much of thy love
Because i fear my heart would seize to beat and flea like a preyed dove
I do not wish to stretch you beyond thy width
By clinging onto a thin rope and me unable to pay my debt
Besides am mortal bread nurtured and born of a woman
Making me vulnerable to faulter as a sinful human
I do not wish to see you sob in such a plaintiff tear
Because i wish i could imprison this form of human snare
But i beseech you,its only a note of caution
I never mean it to happen neither is my hidden intention
But do not give too much of thy heart to me
Because i dread to know a bitter future at an expensive fee
