Superman

by StarryBlackNight   Jun 27, 2011

I thought you were Superman,
but it turns out you're just a man.
I believed that you could fly,
with your dreams that laid untouched.
I found your Kryptonite,
the one thing you couldn't fight.
A disease that hits everyone,
and yet it seemed to us more.

I thought you were my hero,
but in the end you're worth less then I thought.
Once I believed we could fight this,
but I was living in a bliss.
Never did I think about the limit,
it seems I was a fool to ignore it.
The sky and space seemed so near,
and when you held me I was safe.

I'm not a little girl anymore,
no longer do I see the superhero.
I have no time for fun and games,
but you'll always be my hero.
The one who saves my day,
will always be you dad.
And every now and then I find myself asking,
What happened to my Superman?
