Only Deception

by Maegan Bravo   Jul 4, 2011

Forget our beginnings,
And our lack of an ending.

The alcohol kept you captive,
And the drugs dug you deeper.

Now he's the keeper,
Of a once perfect heart.
He stole it,
And broke it,
Leaving it to burn.

He's got you on strings,
His little puppet it seems.

I tried all I could
To save you.
But you didn't believe,
Even when you saw
With your own eyes,
All of his nasty lies.

I betrayed you,
By giving away a secret.
Not knowing
I had to keep it.
I was trying to save you.

But he loves you,
And lies to your face.
Knowing that he has you,
And you'll never run away.

The very day I tried to speak,
Was the very day he made you weak.

"Don't listen to her,
She's spreading lies.
Don't believe her,
Don't believe your own eyes.
She's in disguise,
Trying to please you.
She's spreading rumors,
Trying to take you.
She's a deceiver."

And so you left,
To the "Dark Side"
Where only lies
Are allowed to be.
No true relationship,
Only deception.
