For Rania

by Yakari Gabriel   Aug 22, 2011

Oh Rania,

what are you?
where did you come from?

if only my voice could reach
through the corners of your country
I'd let out a loud scream
saying that you are a rose,
or perhaps a shower of holy water.

for you seem,
to plant flowers upon my lungs
(making it pleasant for me to breathe)

sometimes I wish,
I could carve your name inside my ribcages
so I always have you with me..

still I dream,
of one day holding your head between
my hands,as if it was a lucky charm..
or a snowflake,perhaps.
to press my lips upon your forehead
(to thank you)

oh Rania,
you have no idea what your poetry does to me..

but,
somehow,
somewhere...

you got under my skin.

Awww this is such a BEAUTIFUL and sweeeet poem!! I can see how Nana is sooo honored, and she truly deserved every kind word you've written about her!

I loved it from beginning to end... loved the way you described how you wish you could carve her name in your rib cage! And the ending was perfect... I must agree with this poem.. Nana's poetry makes me feel the same way!!

    Well done :)

Oh god, if I ever would write a poem about nana, I can somehow imagine it like this one .. AMAZING Yakiiii. just superb ...

    for you seem,
to plant flowers upon my lungs
(making it pleasant for me to breathe)
    ^^
Its known that plants, and flowers, bring a fresh breath of air when put in a room. Here as if you were comparing your lungs to a room that is filled with a nice fresh air, I loved the images in here :)

    still I dream,
of one day holding your head between
my hands,as if it was a lucky charm..
    ^^
Very vivid image, had to read it more than once to absorb it.

    or a snowflake,perhaps.
to press my lips upon your forehead
    (to thank you)
    ^^
If we gather all the people in PnQ whom nana has affected in some way or another, she would get a million thank you's.

A really amazing, simple, sincere poem yakii.
    Good job. 5/5
