When I'm Sad

Sometimes I lay in the dark
listening to my aching emptiness
other times I listen to my music
and ignore the world around me
most times I look in the mirror
and watch as my spiritless eyes dim

the next day would arrive
and when I felt worse
the one fact on my mind
is that unhappiness is what I deserve

sometimes I write a sad poem like this
and leave tearstains on the page
other times I sleep with my teddy
as he sings me a gentle lullaby
most times I swing at the playground
barely hearing the squeaks cause of the rain

the day there's a smile on my face
the day my laughter fills a room
is the day I'm not alive
and it's all because of you
