I Am Broken

You left me,
Turned your back on me,
Shattered me without a second thought...
So here I lie,
Broken once again,
Unsure how to put the pieces of myself back together again.

I lie here broken,
Feeling the numbness come over me,
Protecting me like a shield,
Preventing me from feeling the pain.

I close my eyes,
And I see your face,
I then find myself fighting back tears.
I bite my lip,
Trying to stop the sobs that so desperately,
Want to escape my lips.

I am broken,
All because of you,
But you do not know this,
Because I've kept it hidden,
Pushed the pain into the back of my mind...
Until now.

Now the numbness evades me,
Leaving me gasping for air,
Tears began to stream down my face,
And sobs make my body tremble.
And as I lie there and cry in the darkness...
I begin to wish you could see,
Just how much you hurt me.
