Ten Red Pens

by Shelly   Dec 21, 2011

One girl holding
ten red pens.
To correct herself
when the day
ends.

Red pen one is
just for her face.
One can never have enough
beauty and grace.

Red pen two
marks off what to do.
Too many distractions
you'll be marked off too.

Red pen three
covers the part you'll
never get to see.

Red pen four,
circle and cross
what she doesn't
need anymore.

Red pen five
she'll use for religion.
Be a dove not
just another pigeon.

Red pen six,
she'll break for words
not stones or sticks

Red pen seven
to use in the dark.
Alone she lives
by this lonely red mark.

Red pen eight
corrects her cries.
Worry and doubt
colored to laughter and lies.

Red pen nine
everything seems fine
But they'll always be errors
waiting on the next line.

Red pen ten
Last mark for tonight.
She'll do it again tomorrow
and always be polite.
