I Can't Forgive

by Shelly   Mar 13, 2006

A friend can hurt you
at any time,
forgiveness is a journey
a mountain to
climb.

An unexpected fight
may come out,
following a period
of silence that will
shout.
All trust maybe
in doubt.

A hurt that follows
you everywhere you
go,
hating yourself for
the memories you
know.

Trying to forget
only to
remember,
like the end of a fire
all you smell is
ember.

Pride is the poison
that keeps things
broken,
A friendship that ends
because of words not
spoken.

It hurt when she said
she loved him too,
that was the day
I knew we were
through.
I knew in my heart
he would pick
you.

I tried to make it so
she wouldn't
see,
just how much she
really hurt
me.
I pulled away and
tried to be
free.

Its not to late for
a friendship to be
saved,
time makes you think
of how you've
behaved.
The comfort of a true
friend is something you've
craved.

I've been told to forgive
no matter how deep the
cut,
friends are family who you
love no matter
what.

But I can't seem to forgive
her for what she
did,
for the feelings she had
for him and
hid.

They always choose her
every time over me,
she was always something
I could never
be.
She wasn't broken
her soul was free.

I justify myself in
all I have
said,
and fear I'll be
alone until I'm
dead.
