Empty Nest

by Larry Chamberlin   Dec 24, 2011

Go to the mailbox for me
just open it up and look.
I don't want to be told bad news
so if it's empty, just put on
a pot of coffee, sit with me;
talk about times before she left,
before he came into our lives
and took our daughter away;
before he stole her heart.

    This was beautifully sad Larry...written from a parents point of view. I know this feeling and you have penned it perfectly..When our daughters fall in love and we are put on the back burner-and someone else becomes #1 in their lives. I loved this piece from you!
