I heard her crying last night...

by Eibutsina   Jun 24, 2004

I heard you crying last night
I tried to block my ears
Attempting to mute your cries out
I wished i could catch your tears

I heard you crying last night
I just wanted to step in that door
Pick you up from the heaped bundle
Lying limp-less on the floor

I heard you crying last night
I heard him smash you to the ground
I knew what he would to you
The second you turned around

I heard you crying last night
i could hear almost every word
He beats you black and blue daily
The whole neighbourhood has heard

I heard you crying last night
and i went to pick up my phone
to call the police to help you
But they said to leave domestics alone

I heard you crying last night
i told them everything you said
i said how long must this go till you'll take control
this poor girl is going to end up dead

I heard you crying last night
then came a chilling silence
I saw the flashing lights next
And then i heard the ambulance.

i heard her crying last night
i told the police when they knocked
i even gave you guys a call
i tried to barge in but the door was locked

i heard her crying last night
i heard her very last tear fall
to think this girls man beat her to death
behind my own bedroom wall
and all this could've stopped, shed be here today
if only the police and taken note of my call.

This is about domestic violence and how helpless it must feel for the ppl on the other side of the wall or fence that hear everything and do nothing - I'm a victim myself in past relationship so many times i just wished someone would knock! But that day never comes for some ppl and they never live to tell there story - I'm glad i can !

This poem is beautiful, and heartfelt. 5/5 stars from me, for sure! And it truly is so sad how many people have to go through that. And sometimes verbal abuse can be just as bad, because even though broken bones heal, a broken soul does not. I know from family experience..it hurts. =/

    *Keep up the great work*

Wow I loved this poem. I got chills when I was reading it. I really feel you captured the feelings of domestic violance. And the message you are sending out is so true. Society have too start caring and doing something about this problem. I can really relate to this issue since I my self have experienced this. And everyone always hopes that someone will come knocking on that door and save them. Loved this poem. 5/5. Keep it up ;)

i really liked this poem because I belive it to be very true. Sometimes even when you know something is happening you cannot fix it and its extreamly hard to deal with. Nice work.
