The Divi Divi tree

by Yakari Gabriel   Jan 12, 2012

I've lost myself,
within all that I found
before me.

there was a time
before all of this-

..there must have been..

and although
now,
so much has slipped
away from my arms

and what once
was so comforting
now brings heartache

I still have that
image of us
underneath the Divi tree

and its enchanting really,
as enchanting as
those sunsets we watched
together,

in the time before
all feelings faded
and life became
a bottomless pit.

-----

The Divi Divi Tree
is a tree found on Aruba..
its known for only flowing in one direction
because of the wind..

you should all come here okay,
Its beautiful.

All I have to say is this.... amazing... each stanza held me in a trance... I adore pieces that can toss me into the moment, like I'm there... I felt like I was on a vacation with my love.. ha ha.. very pretty piece ~

    I've lost myself,
    within all that I found
    before me.

^We are often lost in ourselves Yaki, lost in who we have become not who we really are, I loved the strength of the opening, the strength in the flow as this seemed slightly sad to me.

    there was a time
    before all of this-

    ..there must have been..

^You are saying that you were the real you at one point, or at least you think you were, it was too long ago to remember, I can relate to that.

    and although
    now,
    so much has slipped
    away from my arms

    and what once
    was so comforting
    now brings heartache

^Self-Harm maybe here, maybe I am trying to find what relates to me, instead of what the poem really means but I sensed that you once felt comfort from destruction but now it doesn't feel the same

    I still have that
    image of us
    underneath the Divi tree

^I liked this, and I'll check out the Divi Tree, it does sound a very beautiful piece of plant

    and its enchanting really,
    as enchanting as
    those sunsets we watched
    together,

^You are remniniscing about the past and what you can remember of it

    in the time before
    all feelings faded
    and life became
    a bottomless pit.

^There were good times before it became the way it was now

This was really sad sweetie, I could relate to it (maybe I put my own meaning into it, I am not sure)

But I liked the flow which was flawless and the emotion was powerful too

    Loved it Yaki

    xxx
