Java (Epulaeryu)

by Larry Chamberlin   Jan 17, 2012

Finca Magdalena grown
beans roasted fresh pick'd
caramel nutty delight
fierce hot water brewed
fragrance tingles your nose
the aroma
Wakes!

The Epulaeryu poem is an epicurean ode with optional rhyming. Structure: seven lines, with syllable counts of 7, 5, 7, 5, 5, 3, and 1, ending in an exclamation point, totaling 33 syllables. Each line develops a thought about the subject food with the final word-line summarizing the writer's feelings about the food.
It was developed by Joseph Spence, Sr. who selected the name of the poetic form to celebrate his exploration and enjoyment of Mediterranean and Far East dishes.

Finca Magdalena is a coffee plantation on the slopes of Volcan Maderas on Isla Ometepe on Lake Nicaragua. The coffee is made from beans picked and roasted the day before.

On reading the title I thought the poem is about Java programming language :P but then Epulaeryu is about food so was wondering what it is about.
The description looks delighful even though I am not a fan of coffee beans.
    wonderfully penned.

On the morning after I had that cup Rosaura & I trekked up to the top of the volcano, past petroglyphs, through the coffee & cocoa plantations, rain forest and cloud forest.

    Glorious!

Took us all day and on the return the coffee was even more pleasurable.
