The Chance Encounter

by Yakori bint Muhammed   Jan 31, 2012

2011.

Walking towards the lounge;
there he is sitting
on the mahagony chair,
with his favorite Starbucks
hot chocolate with hazelnut.
What an obsession.

He looks beguiling;
like an appetizer.
Delicate fingers typing,
engage with his laptop.

The lounge is chill;
the aura theme coffee.
I sit across him
on the other side of the lounge.
Holding the magazine
up to my face,
pretending to be
reading; like a peekaboo.
While I was casting glances at him.

His eyelids rolled up
slowly locking eyes with mine.
Its too late when
I realise he has caught me,
stealing a glimpse at him.
Busted, I quickly pick
my handbag and took
my phone, faking a phone call.

Giving me a genial smile;
I almost fainted,
I composed myself
and smiled at him.
My heart warm towards him
instantly.

Rising to his feet;
he treads towards me,
my head looking down at the
magazine;
but the words seem blurry,
rather my mind blurry
with his thoughts.

Is he coming towards me?
With a; husky hypnotic voice,
he said "hello".
I turn back to see whether
he is talking to someone
behind me, Ooopps!.
There's no one.

Boldly I asked "are you
talking to me"?
I knew its me.
He said "ofcourse".
He asked to sit down;
I obliged.

He looked into me;
His eyes so enchanting,
His gaze freezing me.
He has a; soft silky
skin and a
laudable demeanor.

We talked for a while,
seems unreal chatting together.
His name is simply "Khalid".
That is my encounter,
with a charming
high school crush.
