Avoiding the Serpents

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 9, 2012

I have always hoped that I had what it takes
To make it to paradise past sneaky snakes
Often I have feared the temping apple of my eye
Afraid of being alone as if I would die

Rejection is what I have dreaded the most
Hunted and haunted by eternal ghosts,
Of lost lovers never to be fully found,
Yet their memories are forever around.

The Eve of my life was long since buried
Before I would have a chance to be married
But what if had not the heart to even try,
To be tempted at least once before I die ?

Wow this was a very powerful poem. Really enjoyed reading this. Caught my attention the whole way. This part:

The Eve of my life was long since buried
Before I would have a chance to be married
But what if had not the heart to even try,
To be tempted at least once before I die ?

Really captured your poem with that person you never got to be with described here. Nice write. :)
