Down the Lane

by Yakori bint Muhammed   Mar 4, 2012

2nd January, 2012.

Taking a stroll on the damp lane;
the balmy ambiance envelopes us.
Birds chirp hypnotic ballads;
soothing our amble down the orchard.

The quiet boulevard leaves an impression,
while hedge shrubs emit lavender.
My left hand feels his firm grip;
bashfully, i slide my hand to freedom.

Engrossed in the silence of each other;
we try to plumb our feelings.
Wearing a turquoise blue gown;
my white scarf cascading to my shoulders.

Down the valley, we meet an isolated abode.
In the moment of intent silence.
The drizzling sky cloaks us;
putting an end to our peachy stroll.

We stand at the entrance under the rickety porch;
a shade guarding us from impending rain.
My gown billows towards him;
and l sense his shivers like an appetizer.

A foot away, l perceive his cologne;
so strong it almost got me tottering.
His countenance furtively luring me,
my nobility awkwardly hesitating.

Out of conceit l grumble in my thoughts coyly,
while his ardour gets him brooding in his heart.
His eyes wear a lingering expression;
unspoken, his pleads and wishes l could see.

In need of an antidote that is right beside him;
his arms out-stretched to the rare gem.
Gladly l come into his warm embrace;
without a word passions become manifest.

    You have a really beautiful way of saying things, really poetic and very descriptive. I like how you added colors and scents, because it makes the words come alive and it appeals to the readers senses.

    Well done,

    Beautifully worded... and the vibes are quite mesmerizing.. lovely, Yakori. This was an amazing part:

    We stand at the entrance under the rickety porch;
    a shade guarding us from impending rain.
    My gown billows towards him;
    and l sense his shivers like an appetizer.

    ^ To me, it feels so real, I mean the scenery.. quite brilliant!

    An absolute delight to read. Such beauty is usually created with paint or a framed piece of work.
    But this is beauty within the confines of your mind thanks for sharing it with us. Beautiful
