Remember?

by Girl of Conviction   Mar 29, 2012

Remember when you were little back in elementry school, when you had no worries? I mean yeah sure the only worries you had were who took my crayons or not getting the must have toy right that second... Compared to all the problems im faced with now as a 22 year old i wish life didnt have to be so complicated.. I wish life just didnt HURT.
I mean a scrapped knee hurts less then a broken heart, and atleast back then boys had cooties. You had nothing to worry about, the only thing u were really commited to were your favorite cartoons, toys, and the bestfriends you had, ones who never judged u because back then from what i can remember... Didnt know how to judge, just knew how to have fun.
It wasnt about being popular or having the best clothes, because remember our parents were the ones who dressed us, but at the end of day when the sun was setting and you were tired from playing your clothes never came back clean, just goes to show how much fun u were having.
Remember when you were sick and mom & dad always knew how to make u feel better? Give you medicine turn on the cartoons and just cuddle with you till u felt better.. Now when your sick you get scared hoping to GOD its not something serious or lifethreatning and parents just seem to stress you out more.
Remember when everyone in your family was stilll here? Now as the years go by it looks like one by one theyre fading away..
Do you remember when life was so simple? No worries? Stress free? Like elementry school years.. Oh how i wish i could go back and keep time right there at that very moment<3

This read more like prose. But I love prose and it's hard to find a good piece. I honestly enjoyed this a lot, it made me smile in places especially when you brought up so many memories of the family. I DO remember how my parents would stop everything if I was sick, and I can still see that look of worry they always had on their faces.....and then I liked the imagery you gave too. Those long free days when we'd run back inside home and our clothes were never clean, that's for sure! There's a few spelling errors, but otherwise it is a good reflection on the past, and the memory we carry with us. A bit heartbreaking we realize real things hurt us now, but we can remember that hope and innocence still. good points :)

    Take care

I actually enjoyed this read, but it isn't a poem in my opinion, which doesn't make it bad. What makes this good is the fact that everybody can relate to it, as everybody has to undergo and experience it.
