Something to shelter me~

by Poet on the Piano   Mar 30, 2012

.

hands twisted in the mud,
filling out the grey eyes of
pavement
with charcoal breaths.

my lungs are more
than swiftly swollen,
the wind has stolen
destiny's air.....
and my feet have no one
to listen to.

march once was my lover,
a friend I almost surpassed,
but now he has betrayed
the most innocent
vein in me-
the running of my dreams.

he said he'd take me
everywhere there was
to be in the world,
that we'd climb skyscrapers,
and float atop umbrellas.

but I'm rain's shadow
a washed away human,
and as I glance down
in a wandering land,
I can't remember where
home is supposed to be.

and I wait for a ride
on a lightless street,
not hearing movement
not seeing traffic,
with nothing but a
lightning bolt
I wish I had the energy
to use.

leave me here,
don't clear your eyes,
it's me you see
dying in your vision,

awaiting for an umbrella
to shield me
from love's pain
and bring me a shelter
that I can remember.
