I dont know you anymore [Dad]

by Girl of Conviction   Mar 31, 2012

Why couldnt you be there when i needed you the most?
To listen, to cry, to laugh or even to boast.
During my soccer games i'd hope you'd show up so i could make you proud,
but mom just sent you away for being too loud.
Why can't you see this addiction has taken over your life?
Nobody even knows who you are anymore not me, not even your wife.
As time goes by and the years start to fade,
all i can think about are the stupid promises you made.
You said you would get better,
i should of known that was lie,
i stayed and prayed but nothing i did helped
all i could do was try.
I hope someday you'll open your eyes,
see how this stupid addiction is full of lies.
Because I Miss You daddy..

This is really touching and is so emotional I just can't imagine, I'm sorry, I wish people didn't have to break promises and live with these addictions that may change their lives. This was a personal and heartbreaking poem though, I could feel you wrote it from your soul. Dads are ones that can't be replaced, they're always with you though, and keep on praying and hoping :)
