My Own Savior

by tainted melody   Apr 5, 2012

I always thought you would be,
the one to catch me when I fall.
The one I couldn't wait to see,
the one who'd give your all.

But little did I know,
you would only break my heart.
What you'de make me undergo,
just tearing me apart.

Bringing tears to my eyes,
came so easily to you.
Didn't even have to try,
and chaos would ensue.

Like a storm wreaking havoc,
desolation in it's wake.
You always cause destruction,
Trails of youthful heartbreak.

Now it seems I'm on my own,
fending for myself.
My independance is known,
no need for someone else.

Standing on my own two feet,
catching balance over time.
No longer take the backseat,
begin the uphill climb.

I've become my own savior,
I'm the only one to trust.
Becoming ever braver,
Leaving sadness in the dust.

I thought this poem was great. Told a story. I like how you first brought out how you thought that was the right person but time after time it failed to be so. Then you realizing you have to be independent. But in a good way. As you brought out starting a new in a sense. All in all great write. :)
