Don't Be My Ghost

by Poet on the Piano   Apr 7, 2012

She expected me to never forget her,
I realize I never will,
but the least she can do for me
is try her hardest
to live another life
that doesn't claim my identity.

She told me, no matter what,
it would be forever....
but I know the call was chasing me
like golden beer bottles
left on my front porch-
I can't take away the sun's
thirst.

The war following me
as I am falling
behind nuclear chemicals.

I can't be caught.

And now that it's spread
past my feet, my ankles,
my chest,
my heart is already too deepened
with the sickening smoke of sulfur.

She will never hear my goodbye,
she will never witness my last
I love you.

For me, it will be never-

because I can't be saved,
I will never be home again,
her heart will never feel
its fluttering against my pulse.

And all I hope to send down
is a white angel
that will make her memory
end the world,
her heart must never desire
to recognize someone like me again.

Inspired by My Chemical Romance's song "The Ghost of You". Written April 6, 2012 at 11:47 PM.

I love this!! I love this song as well. I wrote a poem a few years back with the same title as the song. You always write with such emotion and grace and that will take you far in life. Yo have raw talent and it shows so well in this piece. Keep writing :] -Nik
