Remember Her (A Poem For Sonia)

by Reyna   Apr 16, 2012

She weeps the tears of a broken heart,
right here right now she falls apart.
They turn away acting acting as if shes not there,
but what they don't know is her life is unfair.

You look on as she sits and cries,
but no one knows what she feels inside.
She cannot find her sense of self worth among the pain and the hurt.

She wears the bracelets to hid the scars.
She wears the mask to hide her heart.
She wears the makeup to hide the condemnation of how far she has strayed from her own reflection.

She smiles to others trying to hide how she deals with hurt in her life.
She wishes to change but is stuck in the shroud of her life
that smothers her every cry for help.

You pass her by everyday, wandering what to think and what to say.
But the words you say could save her life, could give her the message that it will all be alright.
They could stop the blade put down the knife.
So remember before you look away.
The words you say could change her fate.
