The Girl Inside of Me

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Apr 19, 2012

Unwanted and unloved
but a smile on her face
she's not fooling anyone
so they just give her space
but a vast surrounding of happiness
isn't what she wants at all
she longs for security
before she eternally falls

completely unbreakable on the exterior
but seamlessly broken deep inside
she tries her best to keep her hidden
so the stronger her artificial pride
the louder silence becomes
the weaker the light in her eyes
the longer her skin doesn't have warmth
the smaller her heart is in size

if you look through the darkened forest
and beyond the tall, mature trees
you'll find a sad and lonely girl
crying on her knees
as she's pouring her heart out
with every suffering breath she breathes
and finally when you see her face
you'll realize that she's me

once sadness reaches my heart
great anger consumes my soul
it corrupts my last bit of happiness
and into the inferno I go
when my senses shut off
and my energy's fairly low
that disrupted girl inside of me
will begin to show
you'll see full of my vulnerability
as it swallows my strength whole
where not even a gentle being's touch
can pull me from the cold
without someone to love me
and being incapable to hold
crying out will be the girl inside of me
that you will soon know
