The Sunrises I Gave Up

by Chelsea   May 29, 2012

The sun is setting even as a fight to reach it.
I thrust myself against it but it only burns my flesh as it continues to fall from the sky.
Images are burned within my minds eye.
I close my eyes but they only burn brighter.
Your eyes the color of the sky in summer.
Your lips begging to be kissed.
Your back as you walk away.
I claw at my eyes, but it brings no relief.
All the mistakes i made burn me with the truth.
I once had you in my arms.
It would have been forever.
All the lies i told rip through me like fire.
I love you.
Too little too late.
I gave up the sunrises of a love that would have burned brighter than the sun.
And let the sun set the hopes and dreams that being in your arms could have made reality.
