Life and Death

by Marquesas   Jun 2, 2012

A soldier in Iraq dusts the sand off his ACU's
Remembering how his best friend died and wished it wasn't true
Thinking of home and the son he's never seen
All of this blood and carnage but what does it mean
What does his future hold
A brave man, always does what he's told
So he picks up his gun
Fearful, but he knows it must be done

Right now , a cop pulls out his Glock
Never thought he'd have to use it, especially on his block
But a kid thought he get away with selling some rocks
Didn't think about the consequences, if he got caught
Used to the money and fast lane he's not ready to stop
Pulls out his .38 ready to kill
As they pull the trigger time goes still

A young man walking home from work
Exhausted from a 12 hour shift as a 7/11 clerk
Just trying to make ends meet and save up for school
Has big dreams for his future but not thinking how the world is so cruel
When out of the darkness comes a man with a gun
The man has got him cornered with nowhere to run
Funny how quick it takes for a life to be thrown off track
As the trigger is pulled the world goes black

I like how you use three examples of innocent men doing what they need to to exceed in life but they get shot down and have to do something they wished they didn't have to.
    This is amazing.
