Erosion of days

by Larry Chamberlin   Jun 4, 2012

A rose grows before
an Aztec calendar
hung on my back fence.

The calendar is erose
from three decades
of sub-tropical rain.

The rose delights
in white and red -
its life counted in hours.

The certain end of days
for this bloom shows the folly
of latest fad of doom foretold.

    Larry,

I beleive your message is that we should live life as best we can and make the most of it. Like the rose, even though it's beauty is limited to a number of days, it is still very beautiful when in full bloom.

So like the rose, no matter how long we have and if the end of days is coming, we should still make the most of our lives.

Lovely write and enjoyed reading it immensely.

    Larry,

I love this piece. I believe you are referring to the end of days (or the end of the world) which the people believe is supposed to happen at the end of this year.

Also, many people thought that April was the end of the world. Only time will tell.

As far as your poem goes, I love it! The way you describe it, is so poetic and beautiful. Something that could be so devastating you've made sound like something else.

I love the last line, the doom of the year. As in this year is the year to end all.

    Awesome write Larry,
