Diamond In Denial

by Thomas   Jun 11, 2012

Why do you lie?
Lie to me, to yourself,
lie to the world.
Why my little elf?

Everyone can see
the truth in front of them.
That you are
no less than a true gem.

A diamond no less,
that shines so bright.
A diamond, for which
I would put up a fight.

Defending it,
oh so fiercely.
But would hold it
so lovingly.

Be honest and look into my eye
and tell me you're not a girl
that would make me want to die
and lock myself away like a pearl.

If you don't see it in my eye
then you're truly blind.
But just know that,
you're truly one of a kind.

Diamonds are like a jewel that always keep shining whichever way you turn and see it and it never looses its face. Likewise to describe a woman with this quality, she must be a rare gem!
I like the comparison here and as I read it I could imagine a jeweler holding this diamond with such care and love...nice write :)
