Now she's standing tall.

by Rebecca Bentley   Jun 14, 2012

A hand of cards dealt to Nobody's child,
On the day that she was born.
To make her life so worthless,
Not worth anything, at all.

So many uphill battles,
All battles she had to fight alone.
That left so many pointless scars,
And nowhere to call home.

Her heart chipped at So often,
A broken plate had less cracks.
A list to long to read,
A mother addicted to smack.

Nobody's child right from the start.
Nobody's child's father,
Left her full of marks.
Nobody's child,
She's afraid of the world,
And she's Living in the dark.

Once a big sister,
But not anymore.
Nobody's child's little sister
Was worth more.

Raped and bullied,
Beaten to the core.
Constantly getting in the way.
No guardian angel,
Ever came to save the day.

Then came a child,
Concieved by the man.
Who loved less than he said.
With more women in his plan.

Nobody's child,
Gave birth the same day.
To a child not breathing.
Fathers fist got in the way.

Nobody's child.
She's not a child anymore.
All these dark emotions,
Will be left below the shore.

Depression.
My old friend.
Old things die so often.
Our friendship has to end.

Nobody's child,
Lost the battle but won the war.
Her heart may still be broken.
But this time,
She's standing tall.
