Punctums (Acrostic)

by Chelsey   Jul 5, 2012

Protecting the window to ones soul-
Under the eyelid lies a hollow trap
Nurturing our liquefied emotions,
Caving cries from the outside world
Tunneling them to a secret place,
Unauthorized by the heart
Masking the embarrassment of our
Salty tears

*Punctums are tear ducts, the little holes on your eyelid

I have to agree that this is original. I've always written/read poems about tears, eyes etc.. but I've never thought of punctums.
I can tell you are really good with formed poetry, because, as stated, this did not seem forced at all. I might not have guessed that this was an acrostic if you did not mention it haha, and the definition at the bottom is helpful since 'punctums' is a word we rarely see used.
    This is really creative.
    My favorite part is:
"Tunneling them to a secret place,
    Unauthorized by the heart"
because it is true and easily relatable. We usually can't control ourselves when sadness overwhelms us.
Great write. Keep it up :)

I love how original this is.
I don't think I'll ever master formed poetry, every time I try it sounds forced... and like someone mentioned below your words are definitely not forced, they flow beautifully.
