Greek Machos

by Thomas   Jul 11, 2012

One late night
Showed me the light
And shone it bright
On my inner fight

What I really was
Was topic of discussion
And it wasn't exactly
A pain free dissection

I was made aware
That I'm truly sensitive
That I'm so anxious
To give all I can give

My emotional armor
Is hard to drop
Like fans begging
For an encore

I blame society
And its macho-culture
All based on
Those damn Greek sculptures

Sculptures sculpted
To mask their insecurity
Nowadays they just prefer
To use bigotry

Bigotry. I hate when people are like this.

I feel heartache for people on the other side of it getting judged for who they are. It makes me angry.

I didn't realy think of Greek sculptures representing that but I guess I am seeing things differently every day.

    Awesome

    "And shone it bright"
I think this line would read better if it was "And it shone bright"

To me, I think you should have kept up the rhyming like you did in the first stanza... I felt like it lost a little bit of it's flow.

I'm not familiar with Greek sculptures either. I know about the macho-culture... competitiveness, always wanting to be the Alpha.

Overall, this is a great piece...lots of emotion. Great job.

This part right here, surprised me

    I blame society
    And its macho-culture
    All based on
    Those damn Greek sculptures

--I'm not familiar with Greek sculptures, but I do know a bit about the macho-culture.
They feel superior and can't even consider other's opinions.
