My Soul Roams

by Jessica Perez   Jul 16, 2012

My Soul Roams
At night my soul roams
longing to be free at home
In another time, in another place where I am not alone
Day after day my mind's thoughts are my thorns
Oh, why? Oh, why was I born?
lowborn
In a time, in a place adorned with scorn
I feel Christ's thorn
I am not the first born to mourn and be torn
So, night after night my soul will roam
until it is reborn
In another place known as home

Life is an ultimate question. That demands one answer from all. Our job is to go discover. That every breath may recover. Where there's a need, there's an answer. Answer is report of a find. Every need must resume with thorn. See the end, and strive for the fun. End of a matter spells victory. But it takes some time to get there. Patience is key to survival. At the fullness of time, God gives.

I felt such a deep connection with this poem. They say home is where the heart is but, just because it beats there doesn't mean it's where you belong. I loved the simplicity of your words as well as the rhyme. Truly spoke to me.
