One Am.

by Maple Tree   Aug 6, 2012

At one am. I saw your eyes,
you speak in silence.

Fooling my heart,
allowing me to think
that everything will be alright.

Dark alcoves engulf
your soul,
as you held my hand
I knew then,

the treatments aren't working.

The fire that rages within your body
is out of control,
yet- you smile.

For me? Your Family?

or is it because you
know that down the road,
very soon,

the pain will simply go away,
and so will you....

    This is so sad :(

I always feel such a sadness when thinking of someone who has such a devastating illness because they know their own body and they know when they thay have been beaten and when there is still time to fight. What always gets me is how they always put on that brave face for those around them, even though inside it tells a very different story.

A lovely, yet sad poem. Well done xx
