I'm Still Learning

The rain is pounding
But I don’t care
The lightning’s flashing
Catching my stare

I see my whole life
Just passing me by
And I can’t stop the meaningless
No matter how hard I try

The thunder strikes
Like the words they say
It leaves a mark
That doesn’t go away

The cold air surrounds me
Sending shivers down my spine
Just like those times I felt alone
I wouldn’t make it to the finish line

It’s so hard to look out at the world
When I’ve hidden from everyone before
When I wanted nothing else
Then to exist no more

And now I realize the pain
Was only temporary and would end
But to leave the world
Is a problem that can’t mend

I learned the hard way
I’m still learning everyday
I don’t think you’ll ever see a true smile
But I’m still okay

And I don’t think I’ll ever make it alone
Or really know how to deal
I’m just not strong enough
To push away how I feel

I went through life
Knowing how I was living was wrong
I now know that just like storms, pain ends
I finally realize so much, after so long
