Escape

by LastManStanding   Aug 16, 2012

Do I have to leave everything I know to just get away?
I don't want to
But it's just to difficult to stay
Take me for what I am or forget I ever existed
I feel your current attitude towards me is somewhat twisted
Am I your friend? or something more?
The systematic breakup and makeup is turning into a chore
It will be difficult to start life all over
All my aspirations and dreams, null and void. I'm starting to sound like a no-hoper
Don't think I will love for a while
What we had was special while it lasted...
How can you give someone everything and watch them throw it all away?
I'm not sure Tim, your perception of love is starting to look rather grey
broken
shattered
meaningless
Its all over Trooper, you know what to do...
Do I?
Was any of this ever true?

I like the self reflections ebbing throughout this poem. It creates this direct link to the way you think and provides us with a segment of an experience. Love is painful and like everything life gives us it's a learning journey to discovery whether it be yourself or others.

I found the use of rhetorical questions very effective as it captures and drags the reader on your journey.
I found the last sentence very powerful and a great way to end this poem!!!

    Keep it up!
    5/5
