Long painful road

by LastManStanding   Aug 12, 2012

It's a long painful road
How long can I go with this heavy load?
I stare at the only thing that makes sense
It stares back at me in the pretense...
That if I were to die tomorrow
Would it be in sorrow?
I would do anything to change
What makes this life so difficult to arrange
As it catches my eye once again...
I come to realize
It has been my only friend
Some talk about the valley of the shadow of death...
I see it as a necessary part of what is left...

This was a deep, sad poem.
I like the flow of the poem and the use of a rhetorical question which is a great way to get the reader thinking about what you are thinking and also provides them with the opportunity to think about their own lives.
A part in your poem that struck out at me was this part:

Some talk about the valley of the shadow of death...
I see it as a necessary part of what is left...

Such a powerful way to end the poem by linking together what some people think to your own patterns of thinking!
    5/5 from me
    Keep it up!
