To my Grandma

by Charlene Riner   Aug 27, 2012

As I got out of the nice warm space of the car and into the outside snow and ice,
I caught a tear peacefully make its way down the curves of your half hidden face.
Silently I waited in hope that the tears was of joy or maybe even love,
But when you told me I realized I was dreaming better then I should have.
You starred into my wondering eyes and begin to speak,
Of a lady who was once strong now lays in hospital bed weak.
You tell me her days are numbered then God will take her home,
Up to His place where she won't ever feel sick or alone.
Tears fell from my eyes as rain does in summer from the clouds,
I whisper to the Lord why does He have to come and take her now.
We still have places to go and see, things we need to do,
The love God put into our hearts is far from being through.
We have baking, talking, and planning for the family festivities,
So why, oh why is your time so close and you will be taken from me?
That night as sun went back into skies far above the earth,
I looked upon the moon and darkness to find that one special star.
My wishes was for more joyful years next to you,
Wishing you was here when dad gave me away, wishing me best of luck.
So many great and once in lifetime things you won't get to see,
If your taken so far from the family and me.
Grandma, I love you with every breath I take,
You're an angel from Heaven no one can replace.
The smile upon the curves of your cheerful face,
Let me know that I can run to whenever I slip down.
You're the one that helped me pick up pieces of my scattered life,
Helped me put it back together without anger or a fight.
Grandma, whatever you do or wherever you go,
Please remember I cherished the moments we had though it may not of showed.
