Downpour

by Stephen   Sep 4, 2012

You're eccentric compared to loves of my past.
Irregular yet consistent,
fascinating yet repugnant,
exquisite yet depressing.

Some anticipate your arrival with felicity,
while others despite it with discontent.
Regardless of their emotions,
you're irreplaceable.
Losing you is like losing the sun in our sky;
Life will no longer exist without you here.

I pity those who refuse to acknowledge
your majesty; by releasing your fury
you can effortlessly lay ruin to all in your path.

This is why I'm lost in love with you,
my beautiful downpour.

This is beautifully-penned, Stephen. The personification of rain has been done a lot of times but youve used it as your own here. The calm, sincere tone you've used throughout works really well with the context of tbe piece.
    Keep it up,

Wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad. Didn't really know what you were talking about until you said what it was. Other than that It wasn't a bad read. 4/5

When i started reading this poem i looked at the category twice. you can easily get confuse. i can't pick a favorite line because i love it all. and i feel the same way about the rain. i love love rain. and i really really like your poem. too strong and deep to be speaking about rain. 5/5

  • This is such a beautifully written piece.

At first I thought you had written this about a lover - even with the title it could work.
But instead it seems that you have personified the rain and managed to capture its multi-layers of elements and the feelings that people have towards it.
Personally, I love the rain. It's just one small part of our world as a whole that is extraordinary.

Also, I love the terminology you used to describe this... sensational.

    5/5 and a well deserved nomination. (:
