Beautiful Corpse (Lanturne Chain)

by Maple Tree   Sep 22, 2012

He
Holds a
Lantern, while
He says to her
"Lady"

I
Will be
Your sweet light
Follow me love,
please

She's
Loving
in death and
I can't let her
Be

She
Slumbers
Softly, with
Her hand holding
His

Eyes
Fixed, and
She is far
More beautiful
dead

true
Horror
In the mist
Plastic angel
girl

"Lady, Please be his Dead Girl"

Special Note: I chose to do write this piece in lanturne form, but decided to do a chain of stanzas.

My poem was inspired by the horror flick "Dead Girl" however It also has double meaning, I wanted to touch base on a very touchy, and controversial behavior called "Necrophilia"

If you look at the last word of each stanza it also sends a message. I wanted to add the acrostic form in here as well.

Lanturne
The Lanturne is a five-line verse shaped like a Japanese lantern with a syllabic pattern of one,
two, three, four, one.

This is a great piece. The acrostic especially blew me away! Luckily you pointed it out, or I would probably never have seen it.

    Definitely a favorite.

Wow this is very clever, I am partial to formed poetry as some people may have guessed, but to combine forms!!

    This is great.

Love the message and the bottle to write about a touchy subject.

You could argue that a deeper meaning suggests that he just cannot let go of his lover who is now dead, so points towards mental illness as well.

    great poem

I will be back to nominate on monday

I actually agree, I was leaning towards the mental illness aspect of it as well... thank you Darren
