Dark Side of Me

by Maple Tree   Sep 23, 2012

I grit these teeth of mine,
often reciting respectful
words within a syllabic
dance to the death.

Truthfully-

I haven't begun to write
my feelings upon
certain things that
gravitate down deep,
within a soul that cries
daily.

Have you ever seen a child
cry? For the actions you
chose to ignore?

I have...my own.

This old soul sheds
a thousand tears
nightly, scarred.

I'm hiding behind
a poets gift to cover
up the reality of
despair and guilt-

Forgive me-

From now on I'll expose
the dark side of me,
I'm not afraid to show
the world my imperfections,

I'm just afraid to see it myself...

This pulled at my heart, a little.

    Okay, a lot.

    Bravo. My favorite, so far.

Do you know what, when I read this poem I get a message which says you have reached a point at which you are now allowing yourself to write about your sadness and your fears and what you keep inside. It is like you are having a conversation with yourself in this poem and telling the inner you, that it is ok to come out now and that it is ok to share the truth of how you feel and not hide it anymore.

I admire this poem because it shows courage and strength.

    I haven't begun to write
    my feelings upon
    certain things that
    gravitate down deep,
    within a soul that cries
    daily.

    - I believe that when you let these things out, your soul will be much lighter and not carry such a heavy burden. You can release these things through your writing and begin to slowly heal.

Have you ever seen a child
    cry? For the actions you
    chose to ignore?

    - This question is so powerful, I think everyone could answer this and many people will answer the same as you did too. It really jumps out right in the middle of your poem, and it is the part I remember even at the end of the poem.

I hope you will continue to write to release some of your pain, and in turn get much more support in which you deserve to recieve.

*in love with this poem just now* xx
