Fiddlers dream [sestina] Collab

by Masked metaphor & Lune de ma vie   Sep 29, 2012

Fiddler, play me a story beyond the strings,
entering me within the walls of an inner mystery.
Thoughts dance around my mind from the tunes of your violin.
Stroke my emotions lightly with your wooden bow,
tenderly transferring me from reality to a dream,
replacing my anxieties to tranquilly and peace.

Notes ease the walls of my soul like a summer breeze brings peace.
How I love hearing the plucking of strings,
The key that enters me through the doors of a magical dream.
Adventure awaits, let us escape searching in this new mystery.
Tickling my sanity into reality, you swiftly sway your beautiful bow,
painting a canvas of colours with every whisper from your violin.

These notes float smoothly from your violin,
bringing the destruction of my corrupting thoughts to inner peace.
You artistically paint my mind with the manipulating of the bow,
playing notes so magically across the violin strings
The notes you play are one of a mystery,
like ancient scrolls and stories told in an abandoned dream.

Harmonies chime in this dream,
creating a symphony of hymns with one voice and your violin.
Music notes seep and slaver in this fairyland of mystery,
a chevalier of peace.
Annihilating evil with your strings,
weapon of choice, your bow.

Strike the chords of negativity with your murderous bow.
I never want to awaken from this enchanting dream,
with the unique soothing power of the merciful strings.
When the world falls apart I think back on the tunes of the violin
and its sheer beauty covers me with peace,
this in itself is an unquenchable mystery.

Finding compassion in this mystery,
slicing dispiriting thoughts of agony with the edge of your bow.
Negativity now relinquished, at last finding peace
Untwined and unravelling this misery, you're my dream.
Handcrafted from heaven above, blissfully playing your violin,
relishing the desire to be one with the melodic strings.

Embedded within this mystery trying to find answers to this dream,
the clue is held by the bow gently stroking the violin.
Freedom and peace accompany me on this journey on the strings.

You guys took one of the hardest forms and made an incredible poem... I seriously try all kinds of forms and this is another one that I can't execute.

You guys did a really great job. I love the words you decided to use as your ending/repetitive words. They are striking yet can hold a lot of contradiction as well. Of course I know the bow you're talking of is the violin bow, but I am thinking more of a compound bow, a hunters weapon, and it gave a whole new different meaning and interpretation to me.

I love the opening stanza and how it was introduced to the readers. Music really relieves the soul and calms people. Really gorgeous poetry you two, well done!

This is my favorite poem I have ever written. It is so beautifully pieced together and full of so much magic and wonder. It was such a fun write, I think together we can take over the world! :p
Such a excellent poem on both ends of the table, our styles really mash well together.
