Running With Deer

by Maple Tree   Sep 30, 2012

I angled my arms
in a way that meshed
with the morning sun.

Silently coiled,
twisting my body
so that the calmness
of the fawns would
not be disturbed.

Their elegant necks
intertwined with
dangling leaves,
gentle nibbles
caused my stomach
to churn in hunger,
reminding me it's
time for breakfast.

I was entranced
by the beauty
of their mocha,
speckled fur and
"buck eyes" with
female flare.

They ran-
swiftly
within the trees,
and my feet
whisked me away,
as though I was
part of their gathering.

We ran like thunder
bolts, whipping tracks,
embedding our markings
in the soft, mushy soil.

If I could, I would have
shape shifted into a Doe,
but within my mind I was
one of them and they allowed
me to join in their nature dance.

This is such a beautiful scene to picture and you captured my mind and imagination with this write. The way you describe the nature around and the movement of the pack and how you feel so free with them and accepted by them. So moving and makes you want to join nature and all she holds for us.

    Beautiful Maple.

OMG Andrea! You know we all love your nature poems, you most definitely are the Queen of them!...this though, I don't know, something about it seemed different. An AWESOME different.

I want to show you what my brain imagined when reading this but I cant! It was just awesome imagery of a person sneaking behind trees, eyeing deer, running with them as the sun bounced off of all of you that were in the forest. This was beautiful. I loved it!!
