Poeticians

by Chelsey   Nov 1, 2012

The American flag does not wave to say hello,
it is crying for attention, pleading for help as
the havoc of the wind whisks it to pieces.

Let me place the colors that represent our
freedom in a palette and paint a picture
for you visual learners and idealistic souls.

The red is poured out blood from victims who
were suicidal, shot in a gang, kidnapped and
slaughtered, killed by drunk drivers, fighting a
war that needs ceased.

The blue is damaged skin from children,
wives, neighbors, employees who have been
beaten because they looked the wrong way,
said the wrong thing, walked in the other direction.

The white is purity of this nation that lessens by
each rape, unwed intercourse, pornography,
strip joint, sex trafficking.

Distasteful.
Immoral.
Unethical.
Disappointing.

How is this a democracy when one man dictates
our countries decision? We vote for one, not a few.

I'd like a day to come where "Politicians"
turn into "Poeticians".

Elect three, elect five, elect twelve poets to participate
in a presidential debate. We write our own speeches.
We abide by the rules of our own statements and
do not tame our tongue to persuade your choice.

We speak metaphorically because painting a picture
with words helps create a picture for our uneducated
society. The "teach" has been taken out of "teacher".
Ironic isn't it? We are left with "er", the exact confusing
sigh that comes out students mouth when they stare
at a test full of subjects they won't use for their careers.
(Required to take loans for that, pay interest on that,
get taxed for that. We'll never use THAT.)

Put a writer on the stand and watch as we captivate
the attention of this nation by refusing to lie, because
after all, we release what we feel and what we feel,
is what should be said...but never is.

The best interest of this nation does not lie in the hands
of one man, but in the voices of its people.

Give the mic to the muses who think before speaking,
who contemplate before deciding, who discover before
taking action. We have answers that will not be found
in congress, we have ideas that can't be thought by
the government.

We are the ones who know what to say in
every moment, not because we "have to", but
because we can't sleep if we do not express the
exact words that creep into our minds in that exact
moment. WE are the ones who TRULY care about
ALL human race. We ache for them.

We say what we mean.
We preach what we practice.
We paint what can't be seen.

I wish I had the power to declare a new war.

"Poeticians Vs. Politicians"

Who will you vote for?

(Required to take loans for that, pay interest on that,

    ^^
When we buy a car? (interest) when you pay for a house? when you buy Food in the store? don't we pay taxes?( we pay taxes on food every time we buy?) I think we use that.

When a student takes a loan to pay for tuition or to pay for their house or car... don't they need to know what they are getting into?

Many say that they don't need to worry about science or math... because they will not use it... but we use math and science daily. The fact that they can't distinguished that they are using it, it's another story. Others believe that a programming class will not be useful but the world is changing, technology is advancing and knowing how a computer works and anything related to technology will come in handy.

There are many classes that we think are not useful but it is later on that we realize that indeed it was useful. For instance, I thought that having a psychology class was a waste of my time but there are many interesting things to learn from it.

If it comes to choosing between a poetician vs a politician.. I 'll go for the politician because the poetician will be over driven by emotions and will not think rational. And once one is driven by emotions, chances are we are lost.

As far as the politician.. we can actually prove their statements with numbers and research.

The Poetician will adorn words to create an image, they will say what they feel that is true, but they will paint their imagination to the public.
And the imagination of a poet is abstract. Many will become confused, there will be different interpretations not just one.

    I picture Chaos.

Edit: Many of the things that we as poets wish, cannot be accomplish just with the thoughts of wanting things to happen. There are more than just wanting and wishing. There are steps that need to be follow.

we release what we feel and what we feel,
is what should be said...but never is.

^^ but never is? do you wonder why?
There are times when it's best to keep what we feel to ourselves.. if every body spoke what they feel, chances are everyone will be hurt or this world will be gone forever. Why? because what we feel at what moment doesn't mean that is what we feel always. One can say what one feels at that moment, but later on, realizes that it wasn't what they really meant to say. It was just said due to the emotion.

    Just my opinion.
