Final battle

by jeffery sechrest   Nov 15, 2012

The battle comes to a end
As his body struggles to carry on
pain racing through his body
the sword slipping behind his guard
struggling to catch his breath
knowing the end is near

collapsing to his knees
sword falling from his grasp
vision swimming with thoughts of his love
the sounds of the world
drowned out by her voice
as if carried by the wind
reaching his ears only

smile spreading across his face
knowing that with one more blow
he'll be returned to her
vision stained crimson red
makes out the shadow of the sword falling.
