Faded

by jeffery sechrest   Sep 5, 2012

Standing on the edge,
his shadow stretches across the water.
the slow break of dawn pushing him along
the bottle nears empty
numbing whats left of the pain,

his heart resembling a broken mirror
as he lets the bottle fall without a care
breaking the silence
bringing him back to reality
swallowing the lump in his throat
he closes his eyes
focusing on the faint pain that rises
he falls into the water
engulfing him like the silent night
he fades away from life
just as she faded from his embrace

Great poem I like how you take the reader along with you in this tale of the brokenhearted. This is a sad poem but it speaks on how we as friends/lovers feel when that person we love doesn't love us back in return. Good one

You're wonderful my friend... very nice.... It sets up such a beautiful imagery which is soothing as it talks about night and then the silence is accompanied by your sadness.... I think friend u create wonderful poems... keep writing:)
