Paradox

by Thomas   Dec 8, 2012

What am I?
A learned fool,
a walking paradox.
Somewhere between God and man
seeking inner peace
Surrounded with love
but incapable of reproduction
Again and again jumping
between the grammar of lust.
From object to subject
and back again.

What am I?
The fool who is looking for peace
in the city of half a million
Where a memory is temporary
like the enjoyment of that night.
When the sun rises
it will all melt away.
Faces and names
be a dirty puddle.
Nights are stories
with fictional characters.
Everyones tongue as pen
and write it.

What am I?
The ideal son
with a dark edge.
I do not look at what I am
and I'm not what I seem.
Incarnated fiction
that will not sell.
The last can on the shelf
of a sold-out store.

You are a very clever and witty poet, that is what you are my friend.
Line two grabbed my attention, is there such a thing? Do the two not oppose each other?
But it works, to me it makes perfect sense.
Somewhere between God and man is such an arrogant line, this person sees themselves better than the average Joe,
I laughed at the thought of trying to find peace in city, great point!!
Everything about this piece is very clever, the images you paint, the rambling pace, the clashing of words that shouldn't really work together but do.
You could delve right into this and come up with so many variations on what we think this poem is about.
Very, very good write. Well done.

I read this pieces several times, over and over... each time, I take the same feelings, but I sink deeper and deeper into this piece. Thomas has penned a heartfelt piece on the battles within his own mind, feeling lost and alone. The title helped me to set the tone for this piece..

I really admire the word usage within this piece and just felt mesmerized by each stanza.. I had to highlight this piece, well done Thomas

This I will definitely nominate on Monday!

Its one of the best piece I read from you Thomas. There is a lot in here, a lot more than what you just said in those words. The question of who you are and who you say you are delivered in such a powerful poetic way, but the sadness in your tone is overwhelming to me :'(

    Loved it soooooo much!
