Hopeful Love

by Robert   Dec 12, 2012

I never forget the times we shared
Laughing together without a care
Smiling hand in hand wherever we went
For every second together was happily spent

Sooner or later I knew there'd be problems
To corrupt our passion, and regret would follow
For this pain to be had was nothing to swallow
But to release and let go, so that our love may blossom

Longer and longer we followed our path
As years went by, and our hearts still intact
For this love had survived many blades, and blows
From lies we had told to protect those close

We had friends and family we loved so much
Who disapproved of this love, without second thought
So we left without word, and hoplessly fought
The views of our families, which was simply a must

On our own I knew these emotions could handle
Even if things fell apart like the straps of a sandal
For the more you move forward, the more the wear and tear
But the accomplishments we had will always be shared

I love you forever, and how long that is to be
It took me awhile to understand, what I needed to see
For our hearts were connected without a trace of shame
These feelings full of love, I hope they never change
