Fallen

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Jan 13, 2013

The anticipation is killing me
As the moon lights yet another night.
I slam the door of your black Mercedes;
The anger twisting from our mental fight.
We haven't talked in days,
And when we did, we argued the whole time.
Tell me why, please just explain why,
We separated the way we did.

Unbearable, the silence,
As it devours the words I said before.
You stand there with such misery;
Your eyes, I try to ignore.
I can hear your heart cracking from the inside.
I hate to hurt you this way.
Salty tears start to fill my eyes,
And once again, I beg that you stay,
But I know...

That one of us has got to go
Cause what we had has disappeared.
Our worst fear of us fading away
Is standing in our faces right here.
I don't want it to happen the same as you do,
But somebody's gotta be the one
To say "goodbye";
And it's gotta happen tonight.
