The right reason

by lillie   Feb 1, 2013

Standing before the gates of a lonely place.
There are dark shadows, silhouettes of a familiar face

The ridged old brass gates, make a painful sound.
Stepping into a lonely place with no one around.

A beautiful face, smiling, in a picture framed still.
His heart thumped with a hopeful thrill.

He approached an empty home broken, painted grey.
Before the big grey door was a tape, a tape he would play

The Tape:

" Dear love,
You are wondering where you may have come?
As you hear my voice, I bet your heart thumps like a drum.
My love I cannot begin to explain the pain you put me through.
At first I was lost without our love, but most of all
I was lost without you.
Many years I wondered, where you have gone.
Did you marry? Were you happy? Were you alone?
You were always the love I would never forget.
Sweet love, do you remember how you and I met?
We met in a random place oh so long ago.
Hearing my voice, gives your heart a warm glow.
Are you crying my love? For letting go of the one you loved the most?
Or are you crying, because our love was special, and
you left me, no trace, like a ghost.
Stop your crying babe I will always love you forever.
Even though you are alone, and we are not together.
Stop your crying, there is no need, you and I were once a beautiful team.
Wipe your eyes love, this is just another dream."

The tape stopped to play, her love was speechless, with nothing left to say.
The house was locked with a chain, no one could come in,
the house painted in such a grey.
There appeared letters upon the lonesome home.
Handwritten engraved " my heart" this was her dome.

He Smiled, with tears in his eyes, knowing her heart was forever sealed away.
It was time for him to find a new love, for their old one could not stay.

Leaving the area, after him the gates shut sealed tight.
The house became colourful, the atmosphere felt right.

He watched the chains break, he watched the house
become refreshing and new.
He smiled, walked away, knowing her heart for someone else, it had grew.
