Thankful

by Rusheena   Feb 4, 2013

The click of a light switch wakes Mason from his sleep.
His floppy, yellow ears quickly perk up,
as he investigates the approaching noise.
The tiny dog sees a tall, blue figure approaching his cage.
He tries in vain to claw his way free, so he barks as loud as he can.
Mason's short tail wags uncontrollably, as his cage door flings open,
and he bursts out into the arms of the woman in the blue sweater.
His thankful owner gives him a good squeeze,
and he returns the favor, in a thousand kisses.
Mason gives his old home, of two weeks, one last look,
while he rests his chin on his mother's shoulder.

*This was for an adjective challenge for my club. I had to use my designated adjective as my title and theme, and I had to use my designated animal, at least once in my poem. Not my best work, but I enjoyed the challenge.*
