Where did you go?...

by Mandi   Feb 7, 2013

Where did you go?
I can't see you, but know you are there
I can't touch you, but feel you in my hand

Where is it that you are?
I can hear you, but know that you don't speak
I've learnt from your lessons, but no longer can you teach

If you come this way again let me know
You weren't here very long but I know you have to go
But before you do, stay a while, there's still so much to say
What I wouldn't give for just one more day

Text me or send me a letter
No wait, a visit is much better
I'll come and see you when I can
I'll bring along the family, especially mum, the boys and the old man

Let me know if you move
Back breaking work, we'd need to sooth
Unlikely now as you've set down your roots
A lovely setting, meadowed fields and a little river to boot.

Enjoy your new home, it was all your own choosing
Rest a while, no doubt we'll catch you out when you're snoozing
And when we go about our day
It won't be long, someone else will soon be back around to play

You won't ever be lonely or feel any pain
The flowers will come around you, bird song will dance on your ears in the rain
And although for now, we must be apart
Dear old friend sunshine will visit too, and warm all of our hearts
